Healthy Harold visits BKP

Today the Kangaroo's had an exciting visitor - Healthy Harold! Harold came to talk to us today about Big Feelings.

The performance supported the children in developing and building social and emotional wellbeing skills and knowledge. It focused on emotional literacy, emotional regulation, friendship and connection and seeking help. Harold had just moved into the big class in his preschool, and he was missing his friends who had moved onto Kindy.

Through music and story, we helped Harold navigate these big feelings he was having. We worked together in a team to help Harold build a tower, and to help little Harold jump on the parachute. Harold introduced the children in 5 mountain breaths, a way to calm down when they are experiencing big feelings. Taking one hand out in a high 5 and tracing around each finger with the other hand, breathing in and out as they do so. We will work on incorporating this method into our daily practice here at BKP.
